Kentucky was pounded by an ice storm of a magnitude never before seen in that area in February of 2009. Didado was called in by Duke Energy, Mead County Electrical Co-operative and E-On Energy to help in restoring power throughout the entire northern half of the state. The ice was at times 6 inches thick on the power poles and lines. The poles could not withstand the amount of weight put on them by the ice. The men worked as the weather conditions remained very bleak. The people of Kentucky were so thankful to everyone that worked so hard to restore their power. Didado was in Kentucky for three weeks with approx. 180 crew members and approx. 200 pieces of equipment including specialty equipment used to repair distribution and transmission lines.
